About
The IACL
The Italian American Citizen’s League in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania was founded in 1922 by Italian immigrants who wanted a place they could continue the customs and traditions of their heritage.
As the League has grown and evolved over the years, the love and celebration of Italian culture has always remained. We continue to celebrate the culture today.
HISTORY
The original clubhouse was erected in 1922. The building served for two decades as the primary meeting location for the IACL and it still stands today on Ways Lane.
In 1949 the IACL built a larger clubhouse, which is the main building today. It houses a banquet hall, buffet room, dining area, bar, and pool room.
In 1945, as many of the 1st generation of Italian-American soldiers returned from WWII, the club expanded and the members decided they needed a larger building.
